ChoreUnlock ("we", "us") is a family chore app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. ChoreUnlock is designed to be set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. Children do not create accounts and do not interact with us directly.
Who runs ChoreUnlock: Syzygy Enterprises LLC, United States. Contact: vasili@syzygy-enterprises.com.
From the parent (account): - Email address, and a display/family name if provided. - Authentication is handled by our provider (Supabase); we do not store your raw password.
Entered by the parent about each child: - First name or nickname, a 4-digit PIN, and a chosen emoji/colour. - Chores, rewards, challenges, points (XP), and completion history.
Created during use: - Proof photos — a child takes a photo through the app's camera to show a chore is done. The photo exists only until it is reviewed: it is held in private storage, visible only within your family, and is permanently deleted the moment you approve or reject the chore (or the moment AI checking auto-approves it, if you enable that — see §4). As a safety net, any photo not reviewed within 7 days is deleted automatically. Photos are never kept after review, never shared outside your family, and never used for anything else. - Notification preferences and, in future app-store builds, a device push token used only to deliver reminders.
We do NOT collect: precise location, contacts, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or biometric data. We do not show ads and we do not sell or rent personal information.
We use the information only to provide the service: sign you in, show each child their missions, let you review and approve chores, award points and rewards, and send reminders you have enabled. Under GDPR our bases are performance of a contract (running the app you signed up for) and, for the adult account holder, consent — which you may withdraw by deleting your account. The parent provides and controls all information about their children.
If you turn on AI Photo Check, when a child submits a proof photo it is sent to the AI provider you choose to judge whether the chore looks done: - Google Gemini (using an API key you provide), or - Anthropic Claude (using an API key you provide, or the app's key on the Premium plan).
The photo and a short text prompt are sent to that provider, which returns a pass/fail opinion and a confidence score; the provider does not train on this data under its API terms. Your use of a provider is also subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy (Google AI, Anthropic). If AI checking is off, no photo ever leaves our storage. You can turn it off at any time. If the AI auto-approves a chore, the photo is deleted at that moment.
We use these services to run ChoreUnlock. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes: - Supabase — database, authentication, and private photo storage. - Expo — app delivery and push notifications. - RevenueCat — subscription management; it links a Premium purchase to your account so it works across your devices. Payments themselves are processed by Apple. - Google / Anthropic — only if you enable AI photo checking (§4).
The optional home-network "bridge" (for internet controls) runs on your own computer and talks to your own router locally; it does not send your router credentials or network data to us.
ChoreUnlock is intended for use by parents on behalf of their children. Because the parent is a verified adult who sets up and controls everything, and because children do not provide contact information or interact with third parties, the information about a child is limited to what the parent enters and the proof photos taken for chores.
As the parent, you can at any time, inside the app: - Review all information about your child, - Edit or delete a child, their chores, rewards, and photos, and - Delete your entire account and all associated data.
To request deletion or ask a question, contact vasili@syzygy-enterprises.com. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create their own ChoreUnlock account.
We keep your information while your account is active. Proof photos are not retained at all: each photo is deleted permanently when the chore is approved or rejected, and any photo not reviewed within 7 days is deleted automatically. When you delete a chore or a child, any pending photo is deleted with it. When you delete your account, all associated data is deleted. Backups are purged on our providers' normal cycles.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Photos are stored in a private bucket accessible only to your family. Access is restricted by per-family security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to certain processing. Most of these you can exercise directly in the app; otherwise contact vasili@syzygy-enterprises.com and we will respond within the time the law requires.
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
